[Update] Dead Space 4 is NOT Cancelled

[Update]
"The reports of our death were greatly exaggerated," said Dino Ignacio, a member of the Dead Space development team, over Twitter. Another Visceral Games developer, writing on NeoGAF, called the rumor "completely false based on my knowledge."

According to VideoGamer Dead Space 4 has been cancelled thanks to poor sales and response from Dead Space 3.

An anonymous source familiar with the unannounced project told VideoGamer.com that Dead Space 4 had been in pre-production at Visceral Games, with a small team at Visceral Montreal allegedly tasked with developing prototypes and mock-ups for the title, and collaborating on ideas for the game's narrative.

The production was stopped when Dead Space 3 failed to meet projected sales and the EA executives visited Visceral Montreal last month to inform staff that the project had been terminated and announce details of the company's restructuring.

Visceral Montreal is now rumoured to have closed following the restructuring.

We'll keep you posted as this story progresses.
