Kaz Says, "I'll Show You Mine, If You Will Show Me Your's"

by Dexter Jaekel

On yesterday's episode of Podcast Tech Fixation, Richard and I had a discussion about who we thought would reveal their Next-Gen console first. It was a lot of fun speculating and coming up with stupid reasons for why one or the other would go first and when. So, I found it interesting to read that Kazuo Hirai, CEO of Sony, had spoken on this exact subject in today's issue of The Times.

Kaz said, "Why go first, when your competitors can look at your specifications and come up with something better?"

This was one of the points that Richard brought up. Hopefully, we will see both systems at E3 and there won't be an awkward stalemate between the two companies. Honestly, this statement has me a little bit nervous for the Playstation 4's launch timeline. I feel it would be foolish for Sony to unveil their next system after E3 if they plan on launching it in Late 2013 or Early 2014. There needs to be enough time for the hype of the new machine to spread to the masses. So, if we don't hear about it at E3, then the launch may be later than most are predicting. I just want the system in my hands as soon as possible. However, if Sony does decide wait for Microsoft to announce first so that they can add new features and specs to get the upper hand, I hope that they actually do it this time around. The difference between the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360 are way too small to justify the year long gap between the two systems.

You've been warned, Sony!

  1. My gaming forecast? Sony will once again play second fiddle to Xbox's domination to the gaming world. If the next Xbox functions more like a PC we'll see a boom in it's sales. If Sony can pull together a decent internet gaming service that is secure then we may have a battle forthcoming.
