128GB iPad Confirmed

by Dexter Jaekel

Yesterday, another typical iPad rumor started circulating around the rumor mill. Surprisingly, this rumor was confirmed by Apple today. That's right, if you are well endowed in the wallet region, you can now pick up an iPad that is packed with 128GBs.

“With more than 120 million iPads sold, it’s clear that customers around the world love their iPads, and everyday they are finding more great reasons to work, learn and play on their iPads rather than their old PCs,” said Philip Schiller, SVP Worldwide Marketing in the press release.
“With twice the storage capacity and an unparalleled selection of over 300,000 native iPad apps, enterprises, educators and artists have even more reasons to use iPad for all their business and personal needs.”

You will still be able to buy 16, 32, and 64 gig models. This saddens me a little because I was hoping that Apple would discontinue the 16GB models and then sell the 32GB models for the same price as the 16GB models and so forth. However, Apple has added the 128GB model to the top of the line up. You can pick up a wifi only model for $799 and a wifi/cellular model for $929. Personally, for the $929 price tag, I don't see why you wouldn't just buy yourself a MacBook Air.

The new iPad will have all the same specs as the previous models. So it will have a 9.7-inch Retina display, Apple-designed A6X chip, FaceTimeHD camera, iOS 6.1.

You can pick one of these beauties up on February 5th, if you can find one.

What would you do with an extra 64GBs of space on your iPad?
