The War Z Launches Today

On Steam today, the zombie survival MMO from Hammerpoint Interactive, The War Z, was released. Hammerpoint is calling this a "Foundation Release" since the game has had a pretty large amount of public Beta and Alpha testing. Hammerpoint has touted that The War Z has over 600,000 player registrations and claims to have over 150,000 people playing online every day.

The War Z is all about surviving the zombie apocalypse and avoiding other players who want to kill you and take your belongings. There are 2 different ways to play The War Z, Normal and Hadcore. In normal difficulty, you and everyone else you see can all come back to life after being killed (with a time delay penalty). When you return to the game, odds are that most of your stuff will have been looted off of your dead body. In hardcore mode, you and everyone else only get one life. If you are careless and get over run by zombies, or if another player decides to murder you, then you won't ever come back and all your items and levels will be lost.

You can pick up The War Z on Steam for $15. Hammerpoint has said that they will continue to supplement the game with additional content and will work on bug fixes into the forseeable future.
