For the second lawsuit occurring just in a couple month span, Apple isn’t exactly happy about their ‘Pinch-to-Zoom’ patent being declared invalid.
These are the results of a court hearing in San Jose, Cali. this past week. For rival Samsung, the result is not surprising as that has been their stance all along. Apple initially winning a $1 billion reward against major rival Samsung, also needs to make this particular patent work because it has been their only offensive move during the process. They are trying to keep the sales of 27 different Samsung products out of the US markets.
Apple Inc. for a company as a whole, has an extensive patent portfolio. Losing one patent may not change their strategies at all. From day one it does seem true, that Apple’s lawyers have leaned heavily on that one single patent being a “Game Changer”. Seems a bit consequential but, to know that they have filed for a injunction of the ruling, they may not have lost that battle all together.
