Yesterday revealed a list of codenames for HTC's upcoming smartphones, and among those names were a few devices with the codename 'M7.' According to a tip from username "Football," a forum member of XDA-Developers, the Consumer Electronics Show will be the venue for the handset's unveiling. "Football" has posted good tips in the past about HTC's products, so many are taking this tip as more than mere rumor.
The M7, said to be boasting a 4.7-inch 1920x1080 full HD display, is speculated to be the successor to HTC's One X (Pictured). The rumors also suggest it will have a 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory, and LTE and HSPA+ connectivity. For those inclined toward media quality, the 'M7' will also reportedly have a 13-megapixel camera and Beats Audio. A 2,300 mAh battery will potentially be powering this device, as well as having exclusively on-screen navigation keys, making it HTC's first device with no hardware controls.
The past couple years haven't been kind to HTC when it comes to sales, although their equipment is comparably superior to other brands. The 'M7' appears to be following in the footsteps of Samsung's game-changing Galaxy series, and if all goes well at CES, the relatively unsung hero of smartphone development will receive the sale figures they deserve. As an HTC phone owner, I'm looking forward to drooling over this one.
