Last week, the next wave of Kinect was unveiled to the world. The PrimeSense Capri is a smaller, cheaper, and equally effective version of the Kinect technology. Well the primary goal of Capri is to make a smaller Kinect, it also has other implications in other technology. It can be used in tablets, laptops, and even televisions to bring 3-D sensing technology to those devices (not to mention robots). The video below demonstrates a world where any screen you walk up to you will be controllable without ever having to touch it thanks this Capri technology. I feel that we are still a ways away from this being our everyday lives, but it is still an exciting possibility for the future.
The developer versions of Capri are expected to ship in the next 2 to 3 months while the consumer version is expected to launch towards the end of this year.
Sound off in the comments below to tell us your thoughts on the Capri technology.
