Sad Kid Creates Petition to Take DMC: Devil May Cry Off the Shelves

by Caleb Smith

Following the release of the video game DMC: Devil May Cry, an online petition was submitted to whitehouse.gov to take the reboot "off the shelves." This kind of petition isn't unheard of, but the motivation is certainly different. The objection to DMC isn't about the violence, language, or the fact that it can be interpreted as Satanic; The objection is to the fact that the reboot wasn't wanted or needed. According to the author of the petition, the game "violates our rights to have a choice" between the original games and the new American installment.

"WE PETITION THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO:

Get Ninja Theory's DmC: Devil May Cry pulled off the shelves.
Dear Mr. Obama: As a consumer to the Video Game Industry there is one Video Game that has caused a lot of controversy over the past few month's.

The name of the game is DmC: Devil May Cry made by Ninja Theory and Capcom. A majority of gamer's are aggravated that this game has changed so much from it's past predecessors and the game actually insults the consumers in-game.

We, as consumers did not want nor need this reboot and we believe it violates our rights to have a choice between the original's or the reboot. This game is violating our rights as a consumer and we believe it should be pulled off shelves from game stores due to it's insulting nature and the fact that it violates our rights.

Please Mr. Obama, look into your heart and make the decision that will please us Gamers."

Judging by the grammar and the orgy of apostrophes, this looks like an indignant teenager who just spent all his allowance on a Devil May Cry game that was decent, at best. Hey, we've all had that experience before. As angry as this kid might be, DMC: Devil May Cry can't possibly be as bad as Devil My Cry 2! And what rights are being violated? Is there a right in the Constitution to allow all citizens the right to decide whether a franchise may be rebooted? I would've chimed in about a few things, if that was the case. I love seeing our good citizens exercising their Constitutional rights to whine about video games. It warms the heart. What really confuses me about this is that DMC is the game that's been targeted for this. Doesn't anybody remember Alpha Protocol? Pretty sure that game was a constitutional violation.

Last I checked the petition, it had 67 signatures, about 24,933 shy of demanding a response from the White House. SO CLOSE...

  1. Pardon my language but whoever started this petition and actually sat and wrote to the heads of government to take down a video game becuase you dont like it is retarded and rediculous. The sales of the game go to the staff snd crew that created it; paychecks that pay bills of familes and lives
