In a world where laptops have turned into tablets and phones are getting to be as big as tablets rumours have arose that Apple is close to entering production on the Iphone 6. Suprised? Didn't think so.
Jefferies analyst, Peter Misek, has suggested Iphone 6 is entering production in June or July of 2013 in a note sent to investors. He also said that Apple is testing two prototypes.
He speculated that the "next generation" Iphone 6 will feature a 4.8-inch screen, which would be a whopping 0.8-inches larger than the most recent model's display.
The analyst also forecast the release of a new low-end model, noting: "Similar to the iPad mini, we expect a concentrated low-cost iPhone rather than a 'cheap' one. Likely specs: polycarbonate case with 4in non-Retina display and no LTE."
And Apple may launch the fifth generation Ipad and second generation iPad mini this March, according to Topeka Capital Markets analyst Brian White.
A Chinese report says the phone has the codename “iPhone Math” and will likely debut with an 8-megapixel camera. The same source also claims Apple will have an iPhone with a 12-megapixel camera by the end of the year. This could be the two prototypes mentioned by Peter Misek.
Though the latter notion is very likely, I am skeptical that Apple would produce such a large phone. Apple is all about user experience and, though a 5-inch phone is striking to see, it’s not exactly the easiest to hold and use on a daily basis.
Are you going to be waiting outside an Apple store for days to get your hands on the next iphone?
