Nintendo sold over a million hardware during the last week, which included the launch of their new next generation console the Wii U, CNET reported today.
The figure includes 400,000 Wii Us, 300,000 Wiis, and more than 500,000 portable devices, such as the 3DS and DS, sold.Nintendo of America's President, Reggie Fils-Aime, said that the Wii U is "essentially sold out of retail," a fact reminiscent of its predecessor, the Wii, which was notoriously hard to find during the first few months of it launching.
Nintendo hopes to not relive those shortages with its new console."We've certainly learned many lessons from that and we are replenishing retailers more quickly this time around," Fils-Aime told CNET.
The Wii U launched on November 18 at $299.99.
